| The one activity at Andrew Warde High School requiring the greatest amount of dedication, cooperation, and hard work from its members is the yearbook. The 1976 Flame was published as a result of the efforts of just such a hardworking editorial board, and the guidance of Mr. Bormann, Flame advisor. |
| The members of the yearbook staff sacrificed many of their previous obligations and almost all of their spare time to insure that the yearbook would be of high quality. Working on the yearbook staff can be a very rewarding experience. |

| Thespians is an organization of hard-working, talented students. The Thespians were very active in 1976 presenting several plays. The first play was the musical "Showboat," followed by the drama "The Scarlet Letter." The final dramatic event was a group of three student-directed presentations, including the plays "The Bald Soprano," and "Androcles and the Lion," followed by a sixties cabaret.

| The make-up crew and stage crew are integral parts of all stage productions. While the make-up crew prepares each performer to go on stage, the stage crew creates the set and lighting for the plays. Both crews make the play more creative and interesting. |

| The Andrew Warde band, under the direction of Mr. Michael German, had a tough, but very rewarding, year in the completion of its two-year goal: a concert tour in England. It was a very exciting trip, which included a number of concerts, a variety of sightseeing tours, and a visit to the birthplace of Andrew Warde in Colchester, England. |
| The Andrew Warde chorus had a very successful year. The group`s membership has been growing consistently in recent years, and, under the leadership of Mrs. Walia Triolo, its performances have acquired a professional quality. |

| This year was a year of success for the student body. Under the leadership of the School Council, many new ideas and activities were introduced to the school. By listening to suggestions from enthusiastic students, the council was able to make this year an exciting one. The council organized the annual Sadie Hawkins dance. The council also brought back the popular vending machines. Another activity that was brought back was the blood bank. Lastly, the council ended the year with a crowd-drawing concert with the main attraction being the group Maze. |

| The senior class officers, along with class representatives, made the final year of the Class of `76 a very special one. Under the leadership of Mr. Abraham, the class advisor, the class organized numerous activities which united the seniors. Three events highlighted the end of the year for seniors. The annual senior get-together at Sherwood Island, Class Day, and the Senior Banquet, being planned by class members, were a real success and ended the year by recalling joyful memories. |

| Key Club, a service organization for young men in high school, gives members an opportunity to serve their community. Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, some of this year`s activities included the annual Crimson Cotillion, food baskets for the needy during Thanksgiving, a Halloween Party for the mentally retarded, and the bagel sale after school. Key Club gives members an awareness of the many needs of our community. |

| Keyettes is a service organization open to all high school girls. They serve both the community and the school. Some of the activities planned for this year were a button sale, a Halloween party for the mentally handicapped, typing for teachers on a regular basis, and the evaluation of all the clubs here at Warde. For the Christmas holidays, the girls decorated the children`s ward at a local hospital. The Keyettes plan to celebrate the bicentennial year by working at the Fairfield Historical Society. |

| The Crimson Crier, Andrew Warde`s newspaper, informs the student body of current news and events throughout the school and community. Each month, the paper comes "fresh off the press" containing news reports, features, sporting events, and other added attractions. The Crier enables students to develop leadership, responsibilities, and help them become more self-sufficient. All of these qualities are justly needed to ensure a successful paper. |

| The Crimson Crier was the Andrew Warde High School newspaper. Crier editor Charles Zucker exchanges production ideas with Jeff Roseman. |

| The cheerleaders had their hands full this year inspiring school spirit. There were some disappointing moments in Warde sports this year, but the girls kept enthusiasm high at all times. For the Thanksgiving Day football game against Ludlowe, the girls led a huge motorcade across town to spur Warde on to its second victory over our arch-rival. The crowd also got to see the only "coed" cheerleading performance of the year. |
| The cheerleaders also supported our young basketball team through their season, which included braving the streets of Bridgeport at night to cheer the boys on to a thrilling victory over Kolbe. Captains Theresa Mortimer and Stacey Marden provided the leadership along with returning girls Noreen Gramigna and Mary Lou Mortimer. Debbie Kressu and Diane Norman led the successful JV cheerleaders in their fine support of the junior varsity teams. All the girls deserve congratulations for a great year and thanks for their unending support. |
